IT Learning Centre

We have opened a new Learning Centre offering a range of learning opportunities to suit all users. Our experienced staff provide training and support in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and can introduce new types of computer adaptive technology to those who need it.
We have a fully accessible building in a town centre location, where you are welcome to come and learn new skills and build on existing ones.

Courses to Suit your Needs

We offer a wide range of courses to suit different needs and levels of ability
You can choose from the following subjects:

If there is a particular IT subject you would like to learn please get in touch and we will see what we can do to help.

Computer Adaptive Technology

If you find using a computer difficult, we have a large range of adaptive equipment and staff who can inform you of what would suit your needs, and then teach you how to use it.
We have helped many people over the past year, and something as simple as changing the mouse may improve your time spent on the computer.

The following is a list of the equipment that we have and a brief description of what it does and who can benefit from it:

the big keys keyboard Big Keys Keyboard
  • Each key is one inch squared - that's four times the size of a normal keyboard's key a bigger surface area so that the keys are easier to hit for people with restrictive hand control.
  • Lettering on a Big Keys is ten times the size of the lettering on a standard keyboard.
  • Uncluttered- helps people with visual or learning difficulties.
The smaller cherry keyboard with guard Cherry Keyboard with Guard
  • Suitable for single handed use, small hands or restricted hand movement
  • Ideal for users who haven't a great deal of arm, hand or finger movement. Based on the layout familiar to laptop computer users
  • Lightweight design also means that it's ideal for users who wish to bring the keyboard closer to hand, perhaps onto a lap-tray or wheelchair table.
  • The keyboard also comes with an optional key guard to prevent you from hitting the wrong keys.
