• 1a Can the Website be easily accessed by most people?

• 1c Are brochures or information leaflets available in bigger print?
• 1d Is any information available in Braille or on audio cassette?
• 1e Does information include a map so that premises can be easily found?
• 1f Are outside signs clear and easy to follow

• 2a Are there clearly marked accessible car parking spaces?
• 2b Are they signposted from the car park entrance?
• 2c Are they as close as possible to the facilities they serve?
• 2d Is the route from the car park smooth, even, and free from loose material?
• 2e Are there dropped kerbs between car park and walkways or pavements?
• 2f Is it covered, where possible?
• 2g Is it adequately lit?
• 2h Is a member of staff responsible for monitoring car parking spaces?

• 3a Does the entrance have steps, if so have alternatives been considered?
• 3b If there is ramped access, does it comply with good practice guidelines?

• 4a Are they easily distinguishable, especially in glass fronted premises?
• 4b Are signs clear and visible from all approaches to the building?
• 4c Are any entryphones usable by people with hearing impairments?
• 4d Are entryphones or keypads low enough to be used from a wheelchair?
• 4e Are turnstiles usable by people with mobility problems or using wheelchairs?
• 4f Are raised thresholds less than 13mm high and clearly visible?
• 4g Is the lighting adequate inside the entrance lobby?
• 4h Are signs to reception, WC, information point etc. obvious and clear?
• 4i Are lobbies large enough for comfortable use of wheelchair ?
• 4j Are weather mats non slip and non trip?

• 5a Do doors have a clear opening width of at least 750mm?
• 5b Are outward opening doors protected or recessed?
• 5c Are door handles easy to use?
• 5d Are automatic doors safe and easy to use?
• 5e Do all solid doors have a visibility panel?
• 5f Do full glass doors have markings for safety and visibility?

• 6a Is the reception area clearly identified and approached?
• 6b Is the reception area well lit?
• 6c Is it easy to hear through any sliding reception windows?
• 6d Has consideration been given to privacy for people with hearing problems?
• 6e Are seats provided for people with mobility problems to rest?
• 6f Is the reception counter low enough to see over from a wheelchair or chair?
• 6g Has consideration been given to the surface and front edge of the counter?
• 6h Has consideration been given to the service bell for unmanned counters?
• 6i Can people maintain their place in the queue if they need to sit down?
• 6j Can wheelchair users sit alongside seated companions?
• 6k Are any announcemets both audible and visible?
• 6l Are Reception staff trained in Disability Awareness?

• 7a Is a minimum of 1200mm clear space maintained in general areas?
• 7b Are corridors wide enough for people to move around in easily?

• 8a Has consideration been given to hard surfaces and sound reverberation?
• 8b Are floor surfaces easy to negotiate in a wheelchair?
• 8c Are floor and wall surfaces matt rather than glossy?
• 8d Are all floors non slip even when wet?
• 8e Has consideration been given to colours and tones?

• 9a Do stairs conform to reccommended dimensions?
• 9b Are the edges of the steps clearly marked on the nosings and the facings?
• 9c Are all risers closed, without protruding nosings?
• 9d Are suitable handrails provided?

• 10a Does the lift conform to recommended dimensions?
• 10b Is there sufficient space for a wheelchair user to turn/ reverse into the lift?
• 10c Is the lift call button easily identifyable?
• 10d Is the lift call button easily reachable?
• 10e Are lift indicator buttons easily seen and audible?
• 10f Do lift doors remain open long enough?
• 10g Is the alarm button or emergency telephone reachable from a wheelchair?

• 11a Is the stairlift designed for independent use?
• 11b Does it have a fold down seat and arms?
• 11c Is there a means of summoniing assistance if required?

• 12a Is there an accessible WC for wheelchair users in the building?
• 12b Are the difficulties of people with visual impairments considered?
• 12c Are the fittings easy to use for those with poor grip or weak hands?
• 12d Is the floor slip resistant?
• 12e Is there an emergency alarm in the bathroom?
• 12f Are coat hooks and mirrors suitable for use from any height?
• 12g Does the door open with enough space to get in and out easily?
• 12h Is there a sealed waste diposal bin?
• 12i If there is no accessible WC, are directions clear to the nearest one?

• 13a Are seats provided where waiting is likely or at intervals in long corridors?
• 13b Is there space for a wheelchair in the general waiting area?
• 13c For audience or spectator seating,do you follow good practice guidelines?

• 14a Are telephones positioned where there is minimum background noise?
• 14b Are telephones usable and displays visible by a wheelchair user?
• 14c Is there a textphone anywhere nearby?
• 14d Is a seat available for people to rest when making a long call?

• 15a Are alarm systems visual as well as audible?

• 16a Has lighting been considered throughout the building?
